CRE8 sat down with Beatriz Eugenia Vasquez

Colombian Artist / Choreographer / Dancer


1. Introduce yourself?

Hi I am Beatriz Eugenia Vasquez, from Bogota Colombia. I have been living in Los Angeles most of my life.


2. What kind of art do you do?

I am a choreographer and Dancer


3. What are the things you're most proud of/grateful for?

I am most grateful for the mentors in my life who have shaped and helped me become who I am, (Chester Whitmore, Denise Blasor, Katerina Thomas, Ron Parker, Regginald Thornton, Leo Garcia, Froylan Cabuto, Michael Foster, without mentors upcoming artists don't have a foundation. And of course I am also grateful for the support I have always received from my husband and mother. 

What I am most proud of is how I have been able to affect my students, the dancers I have worked with and the audience through my dance.


4. What seems to be your biggest struggle being an artist?

My biggest struggle being an artist has been doubt, questioning my talent, doubting myself and fighting through those feelings.


5. What are you currently working on?

I am working on my dance company's  first full length production,"Bewitched Writing/La Escritura Embrujada", ( I have always choreographed for festivals, events etc pieces varying from 15 to 30 minutes in length, but not a full length production) This is a dance Theatre piece about Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I want more people to know who the writer of 100 years of solitude, Love in the time of Cholera and the one who invented Magical Realism is. 


6. What is you're Mission as an artist?

To enrich the lives of others, to inspire optimism and happiness, to enhance people’s lives through dance,  fun, inspiration, creativity and self-expression.
