CRE8 sat down with Jose Valencia

Dancer | Choreographer | Coach

1. Introduce yourself

Hi My Name José Valencia, Born In El Salvador , Raised In Los Angeles Ca. Currently residing in the San Fernando Valley.

2. What kind of Art do you do?

The Art That I’ve been doing for over 20 years is Dance. I’m a Professional Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher In Los Angeles. With education in Ballet, Modern, Ballroom, & Social Partner Dances.

3. What are the accomplishments your most proud of and/or grateful for?

I'm most proud of being an Artist. I’m a strong believer that dance chose me, I Did Not Chose It. I was not meant to be a dancer, specially coming from El Salvador and raised in South Central LA. Kids raised in South Central end up doing other things in life, but NOT dance.

4. What seems to be your biggest struggle as an artist?

There are many struggles I personally feel I have as an artist, but one of the biggest one I have is the fact that there is NOT enough representation and focus for dance in the Hollywood Industry, in addition to NOT having enough Latino Dancer/Choreographers represented.

5. How do you override these struggles?

I personally override these struggles by only focusing on putting out quality good work out there.

6. What are you currently working on?

Currently I’m working on a Theater Dance Show Called “Divas To The Dance Floor”, in addition to producing my own dance choreography videos.

7. What is your mission as an artist?

My over all mission as an artist is to inspire others by my art being through my dancing, My Choreography, or My Coaching. I Love being part of people’s journey.
